30 Fun and Affordable Date Ideas

Friday, April 15, 2016

Once you get married, it can be easy for romance to fall to the wayside. It's so important to continue to  'date' and share romantic experiences with your spouse. Fun dates don't have to be expensive, though! Check out my list of 30 fun AND affordable date ideas for you and your love.

1. Toast marshmallows by a fire. For Christmas I bought Rhett an outdoor fire pit for the back porch. It's not huge, but it is perfect for enjoying the cool evenings outside.

2. Go bowling. I completely suck at bowling - Rhett always wins! But, it sure is fun to go and laugh with (and at) each other.

3. Go for a picnic. Even if you don't want to pack your own food, grab a blanket and swing by a drive-through and enjoy dinner in the great outdoors!

4. Try a new recipe. Do you feel like you're constantly eating the same things over and over? Look for a fun, unique recipe online and head to the grocery store together and make something new!

5. Wine and Dine. Buy a cheap bottle of wine and some fun cheese (weird names are the best!) and have your own elegant experience right in your home!

6. Netflix and Chill. There just isn't much better than lounging in sweats while being mindlessly entertained.

7. Visit a local farmer's market. Or an apple orchard or local dairy. Experience the simplicity.

8. Cuddle in a hammock. One of my favorites - perfect on a nice spring day!

9. Go for a drive. Doesn't matter where you go or what you see as long as you're together.

10. Play corn hole. Not your game of choice? Try Frisbee or toss the football.

11. Play a video game together. I love playing 'Just Dance' on the Wii and it's always a blast!

12. Visit a museum. You can learn so much from visiting a museum - it's affordable and classy all at the same time.

13. Have a sleepover in the living room. Pull out the sleeping bags and blankies - it's time to make a bed on the floor!

14. Go to a baseball game. MLB, local, or even little league!

15. Lay outside and watch the stars. Don't forget a blanket and the bug spray!

16. Play trivia. A lot of local restaurants will host trivia nights - so go enjoy a nice dinner out and get game time for free!

17. Rent kayaks. If you live on the lake/ocean, you could even look in to purchasing them for more extended fun!

18. Go for a hike. Nothing strenuous - just scenic and fun!

19. Learn a dance. Teach your man to Wobble or Wop - or something classier if that's not your thing.

20. Make ice cream sundaes. Buy several flavors and toppings and create your own in-home ice cream parlor!

21. Go to a carnival or fair. Even if you don't enjoy the rides, there is usually yummy food and the people watching is pretty fun too.

22. Go to the zoo. Because who doesn't want to relive their childhood?

23. Binge watch a movie series. Star Wars. Harry Potter. Lord of the Rings. Twilight. You get the idea.

24. Have breakfast in bed. Pop those frozen waffles in the toaster and bring them right back to bed!

25. Visit an arcade. Take $20 and enjoy a childlike afternoon of fun.

26. Be a tourist. Visit all the tourist areas nearby.

27. Take a spontaneous day trip. Pick a direction and drive - stop when you see something interesting.

28. Explore a furniture or home improvement store. Lowe's, Ikea, (etc.) - it never hurts to daydream.

29. Start a restoration project. Find something old and make it new!

30. Visit each other's Alma Mater. Walk around your old stomping grounds and show each other your favorite spots.
