14 Things I Love about my spouse - featuring Brittney & Jonathan Graham

Sunday, February 14, 2016

Jonathan and Brittney got married on October 12th, 2014. It was a beautiful, magical day that they will never forget. However, their fairy tale didn’t stop there; they had a sweet baby boy on October 14th, 2015. Their family of three resides in beautiful North Carolina. Jonathan currently works as a nurse anesthetist and Brittney is a nurse turned stay at home mama. She enjoys getting to encounter each milestone and “first” with her little one. Jonathan and Brittney enjoy traveling, being outside, spending time with family and friends, being involved at church, and making life one big, fun adventure!

14 things Brittney loves about Jonathan:

1.  I love that Jonathan loves the Lord. His love for our Savior is contagious. He worships with his whole heart. He listens intently to Pastor each week and hangs on to each word. He spends time in the Word and prays with me every night. So, first and foremost I love his heart for Jesus. It makes me love him even more. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.” Luke 10:27

2.  I love that Jonathan is such a great provider for our little family. He works long days, sometimes 12+ hours and still races home and walks in the door with a huge smile on his face. He can’t wait to get home to spend time with Theo and I.

3.  I love that Jonathan lets me sleep. Jonathan typically wakes up at 5:30 AM when he has work. But, on his off days instead of sleeping in, he gets up with our 4-month-old son and lets me sleep in. Now, that is LOVE.

4.  I love that Jonathan loves his mama. He talks to his mom almost every day. It does my heart good knowing that he is so close to such an amazing, godly woman who means so much to us both.

5.  I love that Jonathan is such a good daddy. I love watching Jonathan with Theo. He is so sweet with him. He plays with him, reads to him, rocks him to sleep, and prays over him. He will even offer to burp or change him in the middle of the night after I feed him. He is the BEST daddy, and it makes my heart so happy seeing him with our son. “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.” Proverbs 22:6

6.  Jonathan makes me laugh so hard! We have so many inside jokes and we laugh until we can’t breathe. I love that we can make any situation a fun one when we are together.

7.  I love that Jonathan always sees things two-sided. If I am mad or frustrated about something, he helps me to see it in a positive or different way. Although it can be annoying at times, I know that he is right and helping me to see it in a different light.

8.  Jonathan is so creative and crafty. He painted our son’s dresser, and it is absolutely amazing! He can make anything beautiful. I can show him a picture of something that I like, and he can re-create it into something even more spectacular. I love that he is so talented.

9.  I love that Jonathan loves me like Christ loves the church. He puts my needs before his own and loves me with a selfless love. “For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her.” Ephesians 5:25

10.  Jonathan and I do everything together. Whether it be going to story time at the library with our son, starting a new work out, or cooking dinner, Jonathan and I do it together and enjoy it. I love that we are best friends. If I find out good news, he’s the first one I want to tell. We tell each other everything. I love our team!

11.  I love that Jonathan can shop for me! He knows exactly what I like and what I don’t like. He will see something and know that I am going to love it before I even have the chance to tell him that I want it. He gives the absolute best gifts!

12.  I love that Jonathan pushes me to be the best possible version of myself! He encourages me daily.  “Two people are better off than one, for they help each other succeed.” Ecclesiastes 4:9.

13.  I love that Jonathan is a good leader in our home. He leads our family and prays for our family daily. He is the one that suggested for us to start volunteering in our church and took the first step to do so. “But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

14.  Jonathan is an incredible listener. I love that I can talk to him about anything and everything and he listens. He doesn’t interrupt and he doesn’t stop me, he just listens for as long as I need him to.
14 things Jonathan loves about Brittney:

1.  I love Brittney’s laugh. Her laugh is so contagious and keeps a smile on my face constantly. She loves to laugh, and she makes me laugh so hard. I love that she doesn’t have to be serious all the time

2.  Brittney is the biggest planner I know! I love how she organizes everything. She plans out meals for an entire week, color-codes our closets, and even has her newest calendar filled out through December 2016!

3.  I love that Brittney constantly looks for activities to keep our family social and active. Whether that is going to the park for walks or to the library for story time, I look forward to see what’s in store for each week!

4.  Brittney always strives to have dinner ready for me when I get home from work. She loves to find Pinterest recipes and make them for us. Even if she is exhausted, sick, or just doesn’t feel like it, she never complains and still manages to make me and my belly happy!

5.  I love that I can serve side-by-side with my wife at our church as greeters. It’s so rewarding to welcome and greet people to church with my beautiful wife.

6.  I love how Brittney constantly encourages me and pushes me to be the best I can be. If ever I feel discouraged, she knows exactly what to do or say to lift my spirits and change my mood.

7.  I love how amazing Brittney looks, constantly. She is so stunningly beautiful. She puts a smile on my  face constantly with how gorgeous she is.

8.  I love how we love to watch the same TV shows. Some of our favorites now are Chopped (we feel like real foodies learning about all the wild mystery ingredients), Fixer Upper (we love Chip and Joanna Gaines), and The Walking Dead (need I say more). PS. It is the season premier of TWD tonight on AMC, just a little shameless plug J

9.  I love how Brittney tries to love/learn the things I love. I really love plants and gardening, and Brittney tries to learn about the plants with me. She thinks it’s funny to make up her own names for random plants we see outside. For instance, she tells me every tree she sees is “The Weeping Willow of the South!”  She will even suck it up to go to museums with me; she even acts interested in the spreadsheets I produce for our budget.

10.  I love how Brittney puts my needs before hers. She will selflessly get up with our son on nights that I have work the next morning and rock our little one back to sleep. I know we both need the sleep, but she lets me sleep and tries to get our son before he wakes us both.

11.  I love how Brittney accepts that I am a kid at heart! She always watches animated movies with me. Some of our favorites are Madagascar, UP, and Finding Nemo. She even packs my lunch full of go-gurts and fruit snacks. In a few years though, I may have to fight my son for these snacks!

12.  I love how Brittney loves Jesus Christ with her whole heart! In our house, we put God first, spouse second, and children third. It’s sometimes hard to keep these in order, but Biblically this is what should be done and we try our best everyday to make this work. Also, we make it a habit to pray together every night before we go to bed. We have been doing this since we dated long distance. Praying with Brittney every day is such an amazing connection between God and us.

13.  I love how even though Brittney has never been a mom before, she jumped right into her motherly role for our son. She is a complete natural. It amazes me the kind of love she has for our son. Being a parent is an incredible honor, and I am blessed to have Brittney be my son’s mother.

14.  I love how Brittney trusts my decisions and me. We talk about everything before we make any major decisions. I feel respected and validated when she asks for my opinions.

It was such an honor to collaborate with Brittney and Jonathan!
